Toyota Unveils New LandCruiser Prado with Bold Redesign and Advanced Tech

Toyota has launched the new-generation LandCruiser Prado, delivering improved driveability, off-road capability, safety, and technology, all wrapped in a bold new design that appeals to urban families and adventurers alike.

Built on the stronger TNGA-F platform, shared with the LandCruiser 300 Series, the Prado introduces Toyota’s latest driver assistance, multimedia, and safety tech, plus a new 48-volt-assisted turbo-diesel engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sean Hanley said the new model elevates everything customers love about the Prado, with enhanced comfort, technology, and off-road performance.

The range includes five variants: GX, GXL, VX, the off-road-focused Altitude, and the top-tier Kakadu, all featuring the new V-Active powertrain and 8-speed auto transmission. The Prado has grown in size, with a longer wheelbase, wider track, and increased overall dimensions, providing more interior space.

Enhanced Off-Road Capability

With a rugged yet functional design inspired by past LandCruisers, the Prado features a low beltline, flat bonnet, and large glass areas for better visibility. • All models feature a full-time AWD system, dual-range transfer case, and center-locking Torsen^®7 limited-slip differential. • The Altitude grade adds a lockable rear differential and front stabilizer disconnect mechanism (SDM) for greater wheel articulation in rough terrain. • Additional off-road features include: vehicle stability control with active traction control, downhill assist, crawl control⁸, trailer sway control, and a towbar pre-wiring harness for the Prado’s 3500kg braked towing capacity.

All models come with double-wishbone front and four-link solid axle rear susp3ension, while VX and Kakadu add adaptive variable suspension (AVS) for improved ride comfort and handling. Electric power steering is also introduced for the first time.

Cutting-Edge Interior & Tech

The latest Toyota multimedia system is controlled via a 12.3-inch touchscreen or steering wheel controls and includes: • Wireless Apple CarPlay^®2 & Android Auto^™3; Bluetooth^®4 connectivity, AM/FM/DAB+ radio⁵ • Embedded & cloud-based satellite navigation⁶

The Prado is powered by Toyota’s 2.8L turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine producing 150kW/500Nm, improved by 48-volt V-Active technology for better efficiency and smoothness.

Safety is a priority, with Toyota Safety Sense⁸, which includes: • Autonomous emergency braking (PCS) • All-speed adaptive cruise control • Lane trace assist, blind spot monitoring, driver monitor camera • Nine SRS airbags

Model Highlights 

• GX – 18-inch alloys, LED lighting, fabric seats, 7.0-inch digital cluster, dual-zone climate control, 10-speaker audio.

• GXL – Adds third-row seating, roof rails, powered tailgate, synthetic leather, heated/ventilated front seats, and wireless charging pad. 

• VX – 20-inch alloys, leather-accented seats, power-adjustable front seats, JBL^®7 premium audio, refrigerated console, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. 

• Altitude – Off-road features, all-terrain tires, digital rearview mirror, head-up display, heated steering wheel, and two-tone exterior paint. 

• Kakadu – Panoramic moon roof, illuminated side steps, heated second-row seats, adjustable driver’s seat cushion, digital rearview mirror.

Toyota Warranty Advantage provides five years, unlimited kilometers of coverage. Capped-price servicing is set at $390 per service for the first five years (six-month/10,000km intervals). A full-service lease (FSL) option will also be available through Toyota Finance Australia.

A total of eight exterior colors are offered, with VX and Kakadu featuring exclusive metallic shades, while Altitude gets retro-inspired two-tone paint.
