Toyota Unveils Eighth Generation Camry Model
Recently revealed by Company’s Global President Akio Toyoda, the latest Camry Sedan will be making its debut, nearly 34 years since the model went on sale.

Toyota’s cutting-edge Camry sourced in Japan, will offer new features including:
- Styling with a greater showroom appeal
- A Dynamic new platform
- A more engaging drive

Following its unveil at Detroit’s International Auto Show, Australia’s Toyota Executive Director Sale Tony Cramb expects the Camry to arrive in Australian Dealerships later this year, at the end of local manufacturing.
“We will offer Australian motorists three Camry powertrains – four-cylinder petrol, petrol-electric hybrid and V6 petrol – and include a sports model with a stylish body kit” (Cramb as stated in Toyota Australia, 2017)
According to Toyota Australia, the New Camry is the first sedan to be constructed on the Toyota New Generation Architecture (TNGA) platform.
“Improved dynamics, handling and ride comfort from the new Camry platform’s lower centre of gravity, higher torsional rigidity and fully independent rear suspensions” are just many of the key benefits based of TNGA platforms (Toyota Australia, 2017).
Upgrades
Additional upgrades to the Camry include:
- New V6 petrol engine fitted with direct-injection technology
- Hybrid Synergy Drive System which is powerful yet smoother and quieter
- Three drive modes including normal, eco and power as well as available paddle shifts
- 8-inch audio display screen, 7-inch colour multi-information display
- Electronic park brake instead of the foot-operated pedal

Safety Features
A suite of Advanced safety technologies will be implemented in the New Camry Range consisting of “pre-collision safety system with autonomous emergency braking, all-speed active cruise control and lane departure alert” (Toyota Australia, 2017).
Exterior Features
Furthermore, the stylish Camry will showcase a ‘fresh’ and ‘sporty’ look accompanied with deeper pressed panels, an extended roofline, angled rear pillars and the availability of 17, 18 and 19-inch alloy wheels (Toyota Australia, 2017).
Technological advancements such as the ‘soft-touch dashboard, wireless phone charging and a 10-inch colour head-up display’ will also be offered for the first time (Drive.com.au,2017)
